Marriage
Marriage
Christian marriage is a sacrament of joy—a covenant in which two people promise, with God’s help, to love and serve one another for life. In the marriage liturgy, we glimpse God’s faithfulness reflected in human love, and we bless that love as a sign of Christ’s presence in the world.
At the Church of the Incarnation, we walk with couples preparing for marriage through prayer, conversation, and pastoral guidance. Marriage in the church is always rooted in the life of the community and offered with deep reverence for the promises being made.
Who may be married at Incarnation?
Weddings at Incarnation are available to members of the parish and to the children and grandchildren of members, based on the availability of the clergy and the Chapel or Nave. It is the norm for a member of the clergy of Incarnation to officiate, though visiting clergy may preside at the rector’s invitation.
We also welcome inquiries from members of other Episcopal churches. In these cases, we require that a priest from the couple’s home parish participate in or officiate the wedding. This connection to a local church is essential, as it helps ensure a relationship of ongoing pastoral support and spiritual care for the couple in the years to come.
