We have a very exciting Advent and Christmas season in store.  The Rev. Toby Summerour will be our supply priest at all services through December 31st, with the exception of Sunday, December 17th, when The Rev. Dr. J. William Harkins, Canon Priest Associate at the Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta, will celebrate the eucharist, preach, and lead a very special Sunday School Class. Dr. Harkins is also a Professor of Pastoral Theology and Counseling at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA, is a faculty member of CREDO, and has a Marriage and Family Therapy practice in Atlanta.

Instead of our normal Sunday School classes on December 17th, at 9AM in Jones Hall, Canon Harkins will bring us an update on the National Church, discuss the importance of remaining flexible and fluid during this period of transition that we are experiencing here at Incarnation, and discuss the Bowen Family Systems approach to our interactions and relationships with each other.

On December 10th, we will have a beautiful service of Advent Lessons and Carols. We are so blessed that Molly McKim and Bart Gilleland will return to sing with our choir. Tenor/cantor Jeffrey Cohen and Harpist Susan Brady will also join us for this service.

On Thursday, December 21st, we will host in the Nave a Blue Christmas along with First Presbyterian and Highlands United Methodist Church. This is a service of comfort for those who have suffered loss or for any reason are “blue” during the Christmas Season.

On Sunday, December 24th, we will observe the 4th Sunday in Advent at our 10:30AM service. At 5:30PM, we will celebrate the birth of our lord and savior, Jesus Christ, at our Family Service with Christmas music in the Nave. At 10:30PM, we will hold our Christmas Eve service of Christmas music and carols followed by Holy Eucharist in the Nave at 11PM.

On Christmas Day, Monday, December 25th, we will celebrate the Holy Eucharist Rite II at 10:30AM in the Nave.

The first Sunday in January, the Rev. Canon Augusta Anderson, Canon to the Ordinary in the Diocese of Western North Carolina, will preach and also lead a special Sunday School Class discussing transition and preparing the way for our new rector.

All these services are not to be missed. Please be sure to give Toby Summerour a special thanks for serving our parish during this holy season.

Blessing to you all,

Lana Jordan
Senior Warden
